A group of DP1 students took the lead, not because they were asked to, but because they wanted to make a difference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the <\/span><b>1 Million Meals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> initiative under their student-led program <\/span><b>$ocialcred$<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they organised a rice and grains donation drive. What started as a simple idea turned into a powerful lesson in kindness, teamwork, and real-world leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<button class=\"button-2 button1\" type=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"true\"><a class=\"cta-btn\" style=\"color: #ffffff; font-size: var(--e-global-typography-text-font-size);\" href=\"https:\/\/owis.org\/in\/bangalore\/curricula\/\">Get a Preview of Our IB Curriculum Today<\/a><\/button><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>A Simple Act, A Big Impact<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students collected and donated a total of <\/span><b>720 kilograms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of essential food supplies. This included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">570 kg of white rice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">40 kg each of boiled and ration rice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60 kg of biryani rice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 kg of idli rice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">25 kg of mixed rice and dal<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20 kg of atta<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 kg of ragi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">378 kg of dal and grains<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every bag packed and every kilo donated was sent to the foster homes run by<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamindianetwork.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow\"> <b>Dream India Network<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a non-profit working with underprivileged children in Bangalore. These foster homes provide a safe, nurturing space for kids who don\u2019t have parental care. The food was used to meet their daily nutritional needs, but the bigger impact was emotional. It gave the children and their caregivers a sense of being supported by their own community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"hhttps:\/\/owis.org\/in\/enquire-now\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/owis.org\/in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/owis-cta-1.png\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Student-Led, Teacher-Guided<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative wasn\u2019t part of a textbook or homework assignment. It was completely led by the students, with support from two of our amazing teachers, Ms. Tishya and Ms. Aparna, who helped guide the process while letting students take full responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They planned everything: from communicating with the organisation to packing and logistics. That\u2019s the power of student services at OWIS. We encourage our learners to take charge, think practically, and act compassionately.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Learning Outside the Classroom<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We believe that lessons learned through experience last the longest. At OWIS, students are not just taught academic concepts; they\u2019re taught how to live with purpose.
