OWIS Tsukuba is currently accepting admissions for Early Childhood Education to Grade 6 (ages 3-12)
We intend to open a new grade every year, with Grade 12 opening by 2031

Something new is taking flight at OWIS Tsukuba. 🦉
OWISつくばに、新しい仲間が羽ばたこうとしています。🦉
When creating our new school mascot, we wanted it to represent not only who we are, but also the community and traditions we are building together.
And it all started with our students.
After sharing their ideas and voting on their favourites, their choice was clear: the owl, a symbol of curiosity, wisdom and learning.
Inspired by Japan’s Ural Owl and our home at the foot of Mount Tsukuba, the new OWIS Tsukuba Guardians identity also features the mountain’s distinctive twin peaks, creating a symbol that is uniquely connected to our community.
Now, one important part is still missing…
A name!
Our students will soon take part in a school-wide naming competition before the OWIS Tsukuba community helps choose the final name.
Because the traditions we create here shouldn’t simply be made for our students, they should be created with them.

新しいスクールマスコットを考えるにあたり、私たちは単なるキャラクターではなく、OWISつくばらしさや、これから皆で築いていくコミュニティと伝統を表す存在にしたいと考えました。
そして、その第一歩は子どもたちから始まりました。
子どもたちがアイデアを出し合い、候補の中から投票した結果、選ばれたのは「フクロウ」でした。フクロウは、好奇心、知恵、そして学びを象徴する存在です。
日本に生息するフクロウの一種「フクロウ（Ural Owl）」や、筑波山のふもとにある私たちの学校からインスピレーションを受け、新しい「OWIS Tsukuba Guardians」のエンブレムには、筑波山の特徴的な二つの峰も取り入れられています。
そして今、まだ大切なものが一つ決まっていません……
それは、名前です！
次は、子どもたちによる校内ネーミングコンテストを実施し、候補を選んだ後、OWISつくばコミュニティのみんなで最終的な名前を決定します。
