Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum at One World International School in Singapore

Cambridge IGCSE for Secondary School in Singapore

One World International School has developed a strong secondary school curriculum that is based on the Cambridge Assessment International Education framework for Grades 6 to 10.
The two-year Cambridge IGCSE programme for Grades 9 and 10 at OWIS aims to help students become learners who acquire the knowledge presented to them while simultaneously developing a deep understanding of the subjects studied. It emphasises the skills-based learning programme that is integral to the learning foundation at OWIS.
What is the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education)?

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education, or IGCSE, is an English-based examination. Students take this exam in order to determine their proficiency in a given subject based on their current grade level.

IGCSE results are recognised in many of the most esteemed universities, which makes this a valuable examination for the students who are enrolled at One World International School. In addition, the Cambridge IGCSE Programme is offered at many other international schools around the world. For our students who transfer from international schools from other countries, this allows for a smooth and easy transition.

Cambridge Assessment International Education IGCSE Curriculum

The Cambridge IGCSE Programme is the ideal option for an international school, such as OWIS.

This is because the Cambridge IGCSE is an examination that holds students to internationally recognised standards. This means that a student who studies for the Cambridge IGCSE at One World International School in Singapore will be held to the same standards as one who is enrolled in a school in other countries where this programme is offered.

This consistency allows students to be better prepared for a global economy after graduation, and is one of the main IGCSE benefits. It also provides learners with the confidence that they need and to know that their learning material will be both relevant and valuable to them in the future.

Cambridge IGCSE Programme

The Cambridge IGCSE forms a bridge to the IB Diploma Programme

We have opted for the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10 as this course serves as an excellent preparatory ground for the rigorous IB Diploma Programme that we follow in Grades 11 and 12.

Our students in the IGCSE grades hone their research skills, learn about time management and self-discipline, and get prepared for external examinations and assessments in their two-year course. By the time they enter the IB DP grades, they understand the importance of both these aspects of academic life – having a deep understanding of subject matter as well as having the academic rigour to achieve their objectives.

“At OWIS, they talk about not only the responsibility of your academic work but actually being socially responsible”

Yes, students who have been studying some other curricula can transfer to the Cambridge IGCSE Programme at Nanyang Campus of One World International School in Singapore. Our teachers will support them through the transition. Please note that the IGCSE is a two-year programme and students are enrolled in the programme at the commencement of Grade 9.

To enroll your child in the Cambridge IGCSE programme, please reach out to our Admissions Team for the eligibility requirements.

In the IGCSE programme, students select optional subjects that are aligned with their future academic or professional goals. Further, the programme is academically rigorous and instills the self-discipline and time management that will serve students well in the IB DP grades as well as later in university.
