Celebrating our IBDP Batch of 2024: Hoangbich (Sarah) D.

It’s that time of the year again, when we asked a few of our graduating cohort of IBDP students to reflect on their years at OWIS Nanyang and share the highlights of their experience.

This week, Sarah, who joined us in 2020, takes a walk down memory lane.

In which year and grade level did you start at OWIS?
Grade 8 in 2020

What has been the highlight of your student life at OWIS?
I would say the highlight of my student life would be the graduation event that my peers and I planned and organised for the class of 2023.

What do you think will be your fondest memory of the school?
My fondest memory of OWIS is participating in all of the school events such as International Day. These activities reduce my stress in academics by allowing us to take a break from work, participate more in the activity, and strengthen our bond with our friends.

Do you have a favourite teacher at OWIS for whom you would like to share a few words of appreciation?
I’d like to express sincere appreciation to all of my teachers; they’ve all played a crucial role in the years I spent at OWIS. But If I had to pick one, I would say Mr Nooh. He has taught me English since I first joined and has been with me throughout my journey at OWIS. He provided me with valuable advice, tips, and encouragement. I am grateful for all of his assistance and support for me both academically and outside of the classroom.

As you enter the next phase of your life, what would you take forward from your time here at OWIS?
During my journey at OWIS, I have pushed myself beyond my limits by exploring unfamiliar roles, such as taking on leadership responsibilities in group assignments and school projects, time management, etc. The variety of academics and extracurricular activities has enabled me to discover interests or strengths that I may not notice before.

What are your plans after OWIS?
Although my university destination is still undecided, I’m really excited to pursue my study in a different environment, engage in more service projects, making new friends, and possibly catching up with my sleep.

Congratulations on everything you have achieved so far, Sarah. We wish you success in your examinations as well as in your future studies and career!
