To ensure our school community is truly diverse and international in every possible way, we have a nationality cap policy in place.<\/p>

Every nationality is capped at 30% during admissions, which means that our student body is balanced and harmonious, with all 70+ nationalities being equally represented at all times.<\/p>

That way, there is no single dominating nationality and your child can fully benefit from everything our multicultural environment has to offer.<\/p>

Unfortunately, we are unable to make any exceptions once a nationality cap has been reached. So we encourage you to get on the waiting list as soon as possible if OWIS is your top choice.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Authorisation is the process of having IB representatives visit the school for an evaluation. During this time they go through the school\u2019s curriculum, assessment, planning, professional development and reporting procedures. They also discuss with administration, teachers, parents and students about what is going on in the school. Both our campuses are authorised to offer the IB PYP and IB DP.<\/p>

IB authorised schools participate in a range of professional development courses, workshops and events to strengthen their implementation of the IB programmes.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

During the admission process, we check for the age appropriateness of a student for their grade, based on their date of birth. We also review a minimum of two years\u2019 previous reports (not applicable for Grade 1 students and below) to assess the student\u2019s academic ability and behaviour. From Grade 4 onwards, there are assessments in pre-determined subjects. Our academic leadership also has a chat with every student seeking admission.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We take bullying very seriously at OWIS and have an Anti-bullying policy to assist students and parents. Our internal policies for staff members require administrators, teachers and staff members to remain vigilant and to recognise the signs of bullying among students. They actively work to prevent and resolve instances of bullying. This requires them to understand the signs of an isolated incident versus chronic bullying. If a report of bullying is made, all staff members treat it seriously and investigate it properly.<\/p>

Kindness is one of our core values and we believe that by focussing on kindness, we create a positive culture in school where behavioural problems are minimised. We encourage students to be kind to each other and respect all members of our school community.<\/p>

As part of our efforts to create a kind and positive culture at OWIS, we have developed several initiatives to support and encourage kindness, empathy and good behaviour. We provide university counselling and career guidance to secondary students to help them make the right decision in their future academic and career journey. Our university placements and career guidance counsellor works with students from Grade 8 to Grade 12 to inform and guide them with subject choices in the IGCSE and IBDP according to their interests and potential career paths.<\/p>

Our university guidance counsellor meets with students individually and in groups to counsel them regarding admissions procedures and scholarship opportunities for different courses and universities. Students are also provided with moral support and guidance with respect to college essays, personal statements and anything else required to get into their university of first choice.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Overseas field trips are not compulsory for students but provide a memorable experience for students and we encourage students to participate in these trips. However, it is upto parents or guardians to allow student participation. Typical places that students have visited in the recent past include Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
