In today\u2019s ever-evolving world, it is essential for students to develop a broad range of skills that will prepare them for the future. By exposing students to a wide range of hands-on experiences and real-world problems, they have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and explore their creativity. Here are some examples:<\/span><\/p>

3D Pen and 3D Printer<\/b><\/h4>

In our STEAM programme, OWIS students have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art tools, such as 3D pens and printers, to bring their designs to life. With a 3D pen, students can create three-dimensional objects by drawing in the air, which enhances their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills. This activity encourages creativity while allowing students to experiment with design principles in a tangible way.<\/span><\/p>

In addition, students can use Tinkercad software to design and print their own 3D model creations using our 3D printers. By learning how to model digital designs and then printing them as physical objects, students gain hands-on experience with the entire process of digital fabrication, a critical skill in today\u2019s tech-driven world.<\/span><\/p>

Exploring Forces with LEGO Education BricQ Motion Set<\/b><\/h4>

Understanding forces and motion is a key concept in both Science and Engineering. At OWIS Digital Campus, we use the LEGO Education BricQ Motion set to teach students the fundamental principles of physics. This hands-on activity allows students to explore the relationship between force, motion, and energy. They experiment with various types of forces \u2014 such as gravitational potential energy, elastic potential energy, and wind forces \u2014 to make the LEGO car travel the furthest.<\/span><\/p>

By making connections between theory and practice, students not only deepen their understanding of physical concepts, but also develop important engineering and problem-solving skills.<\/span><\/p>

Coding and Robotics with LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and Essential<\/b><\/h3>

In Grade 5 in our Primary School at OWIS Digital Campus, students learn the fundamental concepts of coding and robotics using a block-based programming language. They code and build a Ferris wheel, exploring additional features like lights and sounds to enhance the ride experience.<\/span><\/p>

During our Secondary School’s extracurricular hours, students advance their coding and robotics skills by using the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime set, which incorporates a word-based programming language. In the <\/span>Hopper Race<\/span><\/i> challenge, students apply engineering and physics principles to modify their hopper design, aiming to create a model that can move the furthest!<\/span><\/p>

In the <\/span>Maze<\/span><\/i> challenge, students apply logical sequencing and problem solving skills to code their SPIKE to navigate out of the maze autonomously.\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>

Our educators participate in specialised professional development programmes designed to keep them up to date with the latest tools, technologies, and pedagogical approaches in STEAM education. These programmes cover a range of topics, from mastering 3D printing, stop-motion using LEGO to integrating coding and robotics into the classroom.
