Imagination and curiosity filled the air at OWIS Digital Campus, Punggol, during <\/span>Book Week 2025<\/b>. Like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole to discover a Wonderland, our students discovered new worlds and adventures through the pages of story books.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From September 22 to 26, our community of students, teachers and parents came together to celebrate the power of reading with a week of creative, meaningful and fun activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Week of Literary Adventures<\/b><\/h3>\n

Torchlight Reading<\/b>
\n<\/b>We began the week by transforming spaces in the Black Box theatre at our Digital Campus, into magical reading dens. With blankets, chairs and torches, students created cozy areas where they could lose themselves in a story. Reading in the dark with friends gave children a new appreciation for how immersive and exciting books can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Family Booknic<\/b>
\n<\/b>On Tuesday, parents joined us on the Sports field for our first Booknic of the year. Picnic blankets, favourite snacks and well-loved storybooks turned the morning into a warm, community-centered activity. Children enjoyed being read to by their parents and other adults, making reading both a shared and memorable experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

House Colour Buddy Reading<\/b>
\n<\/b>Wednesday\u2019s buddy reading assembly brought our school houses together in a spirit of camaraderie. Older students from Grade 6 and teachers read aloud to younger ones, proving that reading is just as much about connection and mentorship as it is about words on a page.<\/span><\/p>\n

Book Character Parade<\/b>
\n<\/b>Thursday was a day to remember. The Book Character Parade saw our corridors filled with everything from the Very Hungry Caterpillar to superheroes, witches, princesses and crayons! Afterwards, students had the chance to \u201cmeet\u201d some of these beloved characters in person as classmates, teachers and parents brought them to life through storytelling and mini-skits. This event not only sparked imagination but also inspired students to discover new books and characters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second-hand Book Swap<\/b>
\n<\/b>On Friday, sustainability and sharing took center stage. Students excitedly exchanged pre-loved books, going home with at least one \u201cnew-to-them\u201d treasure. Parent volunteers helped to make the book swap a whole-community celebration of generosity along with the joy of passing on stories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the Bookshelf Challenge<\/b>
\n<\/b>Throughout the week, homeroom classes also worked on creating their own \u201creading agreements,\u201d which will continue to nurture a culture of reading long after Book Week is over.<\/span><\/p>\n
