Mrs Angela Henderson explained, \u201c<\/span>There\u2019s no better way to begin the week than by putting connection, exploration, and adventure first. Our urban campus opens the door to a world of cultural, educational, and sporting experiences just beyond our classrooms.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the CCA programme is the monthly visit to the National Library in Victoria Street. These trips are more than just reading excursions\u2014they are carefully structured experiences that empower students to take ownership of their learning. During each visit, students independently select books that interest them, manage their own belongings, and take responsibility for borrowing and returning materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this process, they actively practise important skills such as organisation, record-keeping, note-taking, and double-checking information. Students also document their books by writing their names and book titles on library check-out cards, reinforcing early literacy and accountability. Outdoor learning at OWIS Newton also includes enriching experiences that promote physical development, collaboration, and social-emotional growth. A recent visit to the water park at Toa Payoh Community Club provided students with a joyful environment to play, explore, and build friendships.
