Digital Eco System

At OWIS Riyadh, we take pride in being an Apple-powered school that embraces the transformative potential of digital technology in education.  By leveraging technology, we enhance teaching and learning experiences, improve communication, and adapt to the evolving needs of students and educators at our  American school in Riyadh.

What are the key components of a digital ecosystem and how are they incorporated at OWIS?

Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Communication Tool

We heavily rely on Toddle as a platform for communication. The parents, teachers, and students send messages, view portfolio posts that provide an insight on what learning is happening at school, and have access to the progress reports that identify students’ strengths, areas of development, and the action plan.

Digital Resources

Our students have access to a wide range of digital content such as e-books on Raz-Kids and Epic, videos and interactive simulations on McGraw Hill, and other engaging resources on ClassKick, I Start Arabic, I Read Arabic, and IXL. We utilize digital tools for administering quizzes, tests, and surveys to evaluate student understanding and progress.

Collaboration Platforms

Students engage in dynamic, project-based learning using interactive tools like Padlet, fostering real-time collaboration and teamwork. These platforms empower students to exchange ideas and work seamlessly with their peers. Grade levels collaborate with other learning communities within the Global Schools Group and across the world, exchanging insights.

Professional Development Resources

Our teachers’ professional development is supported by face-to-face training by Apple experts, online training on various platforms such as The National College, and digital resources that improve their digital literacy and teaching strategies.

Why is a digital ecosystem important to OWIS?

By combining mindfulness with purposeful technology integration, we aim to create an empowering and enriching digital learning environment that equips our students with essential skills for success in the digital age and beyond.
