ZeroOne Hub at OWIS
ZeroOne Hub is a unique learning space for Grade 1 to Grade 5 at OWIS Riyadh. It introduces students to the basics of coding, robotics, and future-focused learning at our American school in Riyadh. The hub aligns with both the IB PYP framework and American Next Generation Science Standards, providing a complete and balanced educational experience.
How we integrate ZeroOne into our learning approach
IB PYP and NGSS Alignment
Our curriculum integrates seamlessly with the IB PYP framework and NGSS, ensuring a cohesive and rigorous educational experience. Students from Grades 1 to 5 attend the Hub twice weekly as part of their unit of inquiry, facilitated by their homeroom teachers and the STEAM coordinator.

After School Activities
To further enrich our students’ learning at our International School in Riyadh the Hub offers a variety of after-school activities like coding and robotics, allowing students to apply their knowledge practically and engage with cutting-edge technology.
Saturday Workshops
The Hub also hosts engaging Saturday workshops that are very popular within the OWIS community and with prospective parents. These workshops provide additional opportunities for hands-on learning and community engagement.

Diverse STEAM Projects
Within the STEAM Lab, students engage in a variety of projects that span coding, virtual reality (VR), and design using TinkerCAD, alongside conducting science experiments and building with LEGO and recycled materials.
Annual Science Fair
The STEAM coordinator collaborates with homeroom teachers and the PYP Coordinator to organize the yearly Science Fair. This event is a highlight for students to showcase their STEAM projects and innovations, emphasizing inquiry-based learning and problem-solving skills.

SDGs as a Guiding Framework
All activities at ZeroOne Hub are framed around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring our students are not just prepared academically but are also aware of global challenges and their roles in addressing them.
