This event blends a project-based trial-class designed to help parents understand what international education means in the context of Japan. We will dive deep into the OWIS curriculum and talk about the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Unit of Inquiry (UoI) that is a typical method of learning within inquiry-based education.
This event is in relation to Primary School education from Grades 1 to 5 and we welcome you to bring your children if they are available. However, the event is aimed at parents who wish to understand how children learn through projects and inquiry.

What You Can Expect
1) Learn how Inquiry-based learning works, and how it benefits your child through an interactive activity led by an OWIS educator
2) Learn how project-based activities are integrated as part of the IB Unit Of Inquiry (UoI) from our PYP co-ordinator
3) Understand the context of international education in Japan and the structure of the broader OWIS curriculum
4) Learn more about the process and requirements for enrollment at OWIS

Introduction to IB/UOI (10:30 AM - 11:00 AM)
Led by Ms. Natalia, this session will delve into the differences between traditional schooling methods and our inquiry-based approach. Gain insights into how this methodology benefits students by fostering critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Hands-On Project-Based Activity (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Facilitated by our PYP Teacher, students will engage in a project-based activity that epitomizes the practical application of the IB learning framework. This interactive session will allow students to apply their learning in real-time, emphasizing collaboration and inquiry.
