Paving way for a Greener Tomorrow: Sustainable practices at OWIS Riyadh!

OWIS Riyadh  has undertaken an inspiring journey to instil sustainable living practices for our students. We encourage our inernational school students to promote environmental mindfulness, be eco-friendly, and do what’s right.

Through an eventful Sustainability Week OWIS Riyadh community celebrated environmental stewardship from September 10th to 14th. During this week students were a part of different activities that deepened their connection with our planet.

Here is what they did:

  • Explored the working of – ‘Three Rs’: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  • Labeled trash cans – A simple yet profound act, making recycling an integral part of daily life.
  • Took conscious actions towards eco-friendliness through plastic-free lunch boxes and the choice of locally sourced, fresh vegetables, reducing their carbon footprint.
  • Marine pollution, a global concern, is met head-on as OWIS students learned about the harmful effects of marine pollution

The transformation towards sustainability is not a solitary journey. With the guidance of dedicated educators, students at OWIS are encouraged to plant more trees, both outdoors and indoors, fostering a deep love for nature.

As renowned broadcaster and natural historian Mr. David Attenborough once said, “The truth is, every one of us, no matter who we are or where we live, can and must play a part in restoring nature.” OWIS embodies this sentiment. In a world where the scale of environmental issues may seem overwhelming, OWIS reminds us that solutions exist, and action is crucial.

Here children are taught everyday that it’s never too late to start, and together, we can write a brighter, greener chapter for our planet.
