School Bus Policies and Rules

OWIS puts high priority on the safety of all children. For a smooth and safe bus operation, the following rules apply to all OWIS students riding the buses.

Please read the following rules and guidelines carefully. 

  • Bus fees are calculated on an “Academic-Year” basis and charged termly, 3 times per year. 
  • Billing will take place 3 times per year (July, November, & March).
  • There will be no bus registration fee for the 2024-25 Academic School Year.
  • Cancelling bus service must be preceded by at least a 30-day notification to the Student Services department (by or before the 5th of the previous month). The School Bus Cancellation Request Form needs to be submitted to the Student Services department.
  • Requests received after the 5th of the current month will not be processed for the following month but for the month after.
  • A Credit Note will be raised for any unused payments. The Credit will be applied to any current open invoices or to the following School Term Invoice.
  • A Cash Refund will only be provided for families who are departing from OWIS Osaka.
  • Changing the bus stop is NOT permitted during the current term but is allowed from the following term with proper notification.

 

Changing the bus stop must be preceded by at least a 30-day notification to the Student Services department (by or before the first day of the last month of the current term). Another bus registration form needs to be submitted to the Student Services department.

  • Students must act with due care in their own safety at the bus stops and wait for the bus on the public road. 
  • Students must board and disembark from the bus with courteous and moderate behaviour. 
  • Students can use the bus only at the registered bus stop both in the morning and afternoon respectively. 
  • If a student needs to board the bus at a different bus stop of the registered bus route or does not need to use the bus in the morning, their parents must notify the Student Services department of changes by 10:00 am the day before.
  • If a student needs to disembark from the bus at a different bus stop of the registered bus route or does not need to use the bus in the afternoon, their parents must notify the Student Services department of changes by 10:00 am the day
  • If a student is unwell or delayed on a given morning, the designated bus attendant must be notified directly of their absence or delay. The contact information for the bus attendant can be found in an email sent by Student Services prior to the start of the school bus service.
  • The bus will not wait any longer than one-minute past the designated time.
  • Please contact the school directly for any inquiries concerning the bus ride. To prevent miscommunication, please note that bus attendants and drivers are unable to accept your requests due to company policy.

  • Parents are responsible to accompany the child to and from the bus stop. Grade 1 students and above do not require accompanying adults unless specified.
  • NO visitors, parents/guardians are permitted on the bus.

For students who do not respect the rules and do not improve their behavior, the school will be in contact with teachers and parents and may refuse the further usage of the bus service.
