A Year of Triumphs: Celebrating OWIS Osaka's Academic Achievements
OWIS Osaka proudly concluded the 2023-2024 academic year with a grand End of Year Celebration, marking significant milestones and student achievements. The event was a vibrant showcase of student progress and the official unveiling of our new mascot, the Blue Royals, with the OWIS Osaka FC team donning the newly designed t-shirts.
During the celebration, our students received certificates and recognition from the principal for their hard work and successful passage of standardized tests, advancing confidently to their next academic levels. The presence of families, community members, and delicious offerings from Ceazars Kitchen added to the festive atmosphere, highlighting the community’s robust involvement in our school’s journey.
As part of the festivities, students proudly displayed their diverse school projects across the campus. Parents and guests explored the classrooms where young learners demonstrated their acquired knowledge through an impressive array of projects—from handcrafted airplanes to complex discussions on the three-body problem and detailed models of the solar system. This interactive showcase highlighted the depth and variety of learning experiences at OWIS.
During the event, several students stepped up to present their projects in English in front of a live audience—a notable accomplishment, considering many of them could not speak English just one year ago.
The creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our early childhood classes was also on full display as they operated a real ice cream shop for the school community. This project was the culmination of weeks of preparation, where the young students engaged in role-playing activities to simulate running an ice cream shop.
Noteworthy performances included our top music students’ rendition of “Ode to Joy” on the recorder, captivating the audience with their talent. Furthermore, remarks from the country director and a representative from the American Chamber of Commerce celebrated the school’s remarkable progress and transformation from a dilapidated building to a thriving educational hub.
The evening concluded with lively performances by local band Lock & Load playing popular cover songs which students had prepared dancers for. These were followed by Lifull the Second, whose Japanese pop tunes drew a crowd of enthusiastic followers, making the event a memorable close to an incredible year at OWIS Osaka.
