Early Childhood’s Broadway musical performances are a big hit

Our Early Childhood students at OWIS Nanyang put together a fabulous Broadway musical production in December.

The songs they performed to included: ‘I just can’t wait to be king’ from The Lion King; ‘I like it’ from A Bronx Tale; ‘Dancing Queen’ from Mamma Mia
‘A million dreams’ from The Greatest Showman

The dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the process of rehearsal and on the actual day were truly commendable!

We caught up with Ms Nursuhaili Abdul Ghapar (fondly known as Ms Lyn), our Early Childhood Coordinator at OWIS Nanyang, to ask her about how the teachers encouraged the students to put up such a great performance.

Here is what she said:

“The preparation started six weeks before the actual day of the event. For the props and the dance practice, we involved the Art and Music specialist teachers.

The Early Childhood Team was a crucial part of this event as I delegated different job roles to each of the team members.

We practised the dance steps with the students during free lessons. We had audition rounds for our Early Childhood 3 students to sign up to be emcees for the production and parents took the initiative to practise the lines with their children.

Overall, I feel the event went well and all the parents shared that it was brilliant and it was a proud moment for them.”
