What OWIS parents and students say

Janelle R., IBDP Batch of 2021
My teachers were incredibly supportive of me and my classmates when doing IB and some really went out of their way to help us as much as they could, which I appreciated so much.

Adeliya F., IBDP Batch of 2023
At OWIS, I've learnt a lot about communication, and how it's important to be proactive, not reactive. I've also learnt that kindness and empathy are key in leadership and collaborative work.

Christina O.
I like that technology plays enough of a part within my children's studies but does not dominate basic skills towards literacy with reading, writing and presentation. There is very much a balance.

Extra-Curricular Activities [ECAs] at OWIS Nanyang take place after the standard curriculum ends around 3.30pm.
On Tuesday evenings, tucked away in the STEAM Lab, a group of intrepid scientists to-be come together under the threat of the joys of science!
Today, they created their very own periscopes – devices that utilised angles and reflection to essentially function as spyglasses!
At OWIS Nanyang, we acknowledge that science is not just for learning about real-life applications – but certainly also for learning how thye world works and for promoting curious minds!

This isn`t the typical Singaporean slang you`ve definitely heard – it`s the Learning-At-Home (LAH) projects that our IBPYP students undertake as part of their Units of Inquiry (UOI) during school learning.
These LAH projects serve to showcase to teachers and classmates 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧-𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐎𝐈𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞.
Today, IBPYP Grade 4 student Hosann presented to her class an interveiw with her dad on how the use of digital media has influenced relationships and communication styles, and the quick discussion that was had afterwards brought up well-thought questions and perceptive answers.

Extra-Curricular Activities [ECAs] at OWIS Nanyang take place after the standard curriculum ends around 3.30pm.
On Mondays, a notable and highly visible ECA that takes place is Touch Rugby – a sport that incorporates short bursts of speed, hand-eye coordination, good aim, and even an understanding of physics!
At OWIS Nanyang, this sport sees no gender or ability – but it does promote a high sense of sportsmanship and allows for a practical understanding of what a torque means!

𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞!🙌🎉
From 2-4 September, the IBPYP students of OWIS Nanyang were given front row seats to a series of 10-min plays performed by the thespians and crew from the Alchemist Theatre – and as previously shared these were plays written by our very own students!
From promoting a love for reading and a sense of adventure, to heavier themes like breaking gender stereotypes and dealing with homesickness – the stories written by our younger students highlight the level of maturity in their thinking.
As the plays were brought to life, they really underscored the main values that OWIS aims to inculcate in our students as they grow and learn – 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. It was wonderful to see how the stories written by our students had these underlying themes!
Looking forward to future renditions and displays of our students` talents!

Sometimes, it’s the simplest things you’ll miss the most 💙
For Dhanur, it’s not just the big moments he’ll remember about his time at OWIS, it’s the everyday ones: bumping into his teachers in the hallways, seeing his friends every day, and being part of a community that felt like home.
As he begins his next chapter, these are the little moments that will stay with him ✨

The Imaginarium is a play written by children, acted by adults, and created for children. What a full-circle moment it has been for our students to see their very own scripts brought to life and performed for their peers. 💫
And this is only the beginning! 🎬
Happening now until Friday, 4 September at OWIS Nanyang.
