Eco-Week and Art Exhibition 2022

Eco-Week at OWIS presents an opportunity to raise awareness in our learners about the environment and the positive actions they can take to help solve pressing global issues. Some of the issues students learned about in their classes during this week were reducing food wastage, electricity conservation, awareness about nature, and our collective responsibility to keep the environment clean, starting with tidying up after ourselves in the school canteen.

Like every year, the highlight of Eco-Week was our Environmental Art Exhibition, and as always, our Art Department pulled out all stops in planning and organising the event.

Based on the theme “Garden of Eden”, our twist was to have children create interesting, aesthetic art pieces from everyday waste, such as old plastic bottles, milk jugs, plastic packets, and eco-friendly materials. Students found it exciting and rewarding to see their artwork proudly displayed in the foyer in the context of a formal exhibition.

The main aim of the Art Exhibition was to educate students about sustainability and present an avenue for their imagination and talent, but for us, how beautiful our campus looked with all these wonderful decorations all around was also a big win!

We would like to thank our Art department for the work they have done in planning this exhibit and supporting our students with their creative projects.
