Science Day 2021

This year, the theme of “Superheroes” for Science Day at OWIS Nanyang sent a ripple of excitement through all our learners. The day celebrated the powers of superheroes, both fictional and those in real-life, who are making important contributions in these challenging times. Students and staff enjoyed the opportunity to suit up in superhero and scientist costumes.

The Superhero Science Fair, organised by our secondary school students, showcased scientific models and presentations from across Grades 6 to 10. Our Grade 11 students also utilised the exhibition to research and present their IB Diploma Programme Group 4 projects. Everything at the scientifically-themed bake sale sold like hotcakes, with the proceeds to go to our chosen charities.

While this was taking place in Secondary, our Early Childhood and Primary school scientists started their day with a special superhero assembly to celebrate the role of scientists in real life. This introduction was followed by a wide range of superpower-themed, in-class science activities covering the power of force, water, light, sound and materials/elements.

The whole school enjoyed this day of scientific creativity and interactions. Our appreciation goes out to Neeti Pal, Head of Science, and all the members of staff who worked passionately on the Science Day Committee – Lakshmi Ganapathy, Dr. Aparna Sahni, Stanley Sim, Amrutha Raman, Anita Waghmare, Preeti Khurana and Pooja Bajaj. We also thank all the other Secondary, Primary and Early Childhood teachers for facilitating wonderful learning moments throughout the day.
