Nurturing English Language Learners: A Closer Look at OWIS Digital Campus* EAL and ESL Programmes

At One World International School (OWIS), we take pride in fostering a multicultural environment. The richness of our student body represents our commitment to building a community of learners from diverse backgrounds. To foster strong connections among our students, we developed a few language programmes. In this blog, we will be focusing on our English as an Additional Language (EAL) and English as a Second Language (ESL) programmes at our new OWIS Digital Campus* in Punggol.

The focus of our EAL and ESL programmes lies in providing customised support to assist students in developing essential listening, presenting, reading, and writing skills. Language learning is a gradual process; our specialised and trained EAL and ESL teachers acknowledge the unique journey each child undertakes to achieve English proficiency.

We accept students who are not proficient in English up to and including Grade 7 if we believe the student has the capacity to learn and adapt. We offer our EAL programme for students in Primary School. For Secondary School students, we offer our ESL programme. By Grade 8, the expectation is that all students enrolled will have competent English language knowledge and will be able to conduct their studies exclusively in English.

At OWIS, our EAL and ESL programmes represent our dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Through our specialised EAL and ESL support and globally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum of programmes, we empower students to achieve English proficiency and excel academically. OWIS Digital Campus embraces innovation, preparing students for a future where they can confidently navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
