The OWIS Nanyang campus came alive with thought-provoking ideas and spirited discussion as our Grade 11 (IBDP Batch of 2026) students held their annual Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition, a signature component of the IB Diploma Programme journey.
As part of this academic milestone, students were tasked with an intriguing challenge: to select three real-world objects and connect them meaningfully to one of several TOK prompts. These prompts explore fundamental questions such as “What counts as knowledge?”, “Are some types of knowledge more useful than others?”, and “How can we know that current knowledge is an improvement upon past knowledge?”
What followed was a vibrant display of intellect and imagination. Students approached the task from diverse perspectives, drawing from science, history, the arts, and even personal experiences shaped by culture and belief. Their presentations showcased not just an understanding of academic concepts, but a growing ability to critically reflect, evaluate, and communicate complex ideas with confidence.
Teachers, peers, and our parent community were invited to engage with each student’s line of reasoning. The event was a powerful reminder of the IBDP’s purpose: to cultivate curious, open-minded thinkers equipped for the uncertainties of a globalised world.
This year’s exhibition highlighted the remarkable growth our students have achieved, not just in knowledge, but in empathy, perspective, and intellectual courage.
At One World International School, we believe these are the foundations of lifelong learning and this event was a showcase of just that.
