Life Skills Day at OWIS Nanyang

OWIS Nanyang hosted our first Life Skills Day, designed to equip our Grade 6 to 8 students with the essential skills they need to navigate both their personal lives and digital world with confidence and responsibility. The day was filled with interactive sessions that covered a wide range of topics, from etiquette and financial literacy to first aid and cyber safety.

Students started the day with a guest speaker, exploring the importance of grooming and hygiene relating them to the impact of first impressions. Financial literacy then took center stage as students took part in exciting games that taught them how to manage money, save wisely, and, most importantly, avoid the dangers of online scams. These practical lessons gave students the tools to make smart financial choices, both now and in the future.

In another essential session, our university counsellor, Vivian Rodrigues, led students through the basics of first aid, ensuring they learned how to stay calm and react appropriately in emergencies. This knowledge is crucial and empowers our students to be ready in situations where quick thinking can make all the difference.

In a world that is increasingly digital, students were also educated by another guest speaker in managing their digital identity and navigating online relationships safely. More than that, they also dived into the world of cyber safety, guiding students on how to manage their digital identity and relationships online. With so much of life happening on screens, this session was a timely reminder of how to stay safe and protect personal information.

By the end of Life Skills Day, students left with practical skills that will help them navigate their daily lives and improve their standing as global citizens. It was a day full of fun, growth, and learning. We look forward to seeing our students utilise these skills!
