OWIS Digital Campus receives Green Mark Gold Award from Singapore’s BCA

As climate crises deepen across the world, at One World International School, we join international schools globally that are committing to sustainability through green certifications and eco-conscious campus design.

We are proud to announce that OWIS Digital Campus, Punggol, has received the BCA (Building and Construction Authority) Green Mark Gold Award, recognising its environmentally responsible campus and sustainable building design. This reflects our commitment to sustainability as a long-term initiative.

The Green Mark Gold Certification evaluates how sustainable a building is. Achieving Gold means our campus meets high standards in areas such as:

  • Energy efficiency through intelligent building design, natural lighting where possible, and efficient air-conditioning systems.
  • Water conservation with fittings designed to reduce water waste.
  • Healthy indoor environments, offering good ventilation, abundant natural light, and safe spaces for students and staff.
  • Sustainable construction and materials, including eco-friendly design and long-lasting components.

Acknowledging the award, Mr. James Morris, Head of School at OWIS Digital campus in Punggol, said, “This widely recognised award endorses the commitment of our Digital Campus to fulfilling our Sustainable Development Goals.”

Our commitment to sustainability goes further by using renewable energy sources and sustainable design. Up to 15% of our energy needs are met by solar panels, while the building’s terracotta façade tiles act as natural heat insulators, reducing air-conditioning energy use inside the building by 25%.

Smart design and living green spaces also enhance the campus experience. Learning areas across our Digital campus maximise natural illumination, creating bright, welcoming classrooms while conserving energy. There are also 3 massive living green walls indoors that improve the air quality inside the building and create a calming, nature-like environment for students and staff alike. A drip irrigation system along the green walls ensures that the plants on these walls thrive year-round, combining sustainability with practicality.

These initiatives reflect our vision for a greener future, supporting efforts toward carbon neutrality and reducing our environmental impact by 2030.

At OWIS Digital Campus, eco-conscious design and thoughtful innovation create a healthier, inspiring learning environment for students today while caring for the planet they will inherit tomorrow.
