With the inaugural academic year at One World International School (OWIS) Digital Campus* fast approaching, preparations are in full swing. As our team continues to grow, Mrs Angela Henderson and the rest of the team are delighted to extend a warm welcome to Mr Wong Chi-Wen, the newest addition to our academic staff, who will be taking on the role of Senior Coordinator, Secondary School.
Born and raised in Singapore, Mr Wong holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Economics and Finance) from the University of Sydney, Australia and has also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
With over 20 years of experience in diverse positions within the Ministry of Education, National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore, and international schools in China, Mr Wong has acquired a wealth of expertise as a teacher, academic researcher, head of department, and school administrator. His knowledge extends across the Cambridge, Singapore, and Chinese curricula, and he possesses a strong command of student-centric learning approaches like STEAM and Problem-Based Learning.
At his core, Mr Wong is a dedicated and enthusiastic educator who finds immense fulfilment in nurturing and educating children. He firmly believes in the importance of character development, holistic education and Pastoral Care as fundamental aspects that foster a nurturing, safe and joyful environment for children to thrive.
As an education leader, his philosophy revolves around the idea that no man is an island and that the success of a school is achieved through collaborative efforts with parents and teachers as a united team. He places great importance on building strong connections with students and staff to support them in recognising and fulfilling their true capabilities. Mr Wong is dedicated to fostering professional relationships founded on trust, mutual respect, and humility.
Mr Wong is thrilled to bring his expertise to Secondary School at the upcoming campus. “OWIS Digital Campus is truly a school that is one-of-its-kind in terms of “heartware” and “software” I am looking forward to the innovative teaching practices and school programmes that lead to high-quality teaching and learning. I am confident in working with the team to ensure that students are happy, motivated, and confident learners that strive for excellence in their passions.”
