Celebrating our IB DP Batch of 2023: Anisha A.

In this new series, we celebrate the graduands who will be completing our IB Diploma Programme in 2023. As they prepare for the next stage of their lives, they shared the highlights of their experience here at One World International School Nanyang Campus.

Name:

Anisha A.

In which year and grade level did you start at OWIS Nanyang?

2019 in Grade 9

What has been the highlight of your student life at OWIS?

Meeting new people and making friends from all around the world. OWIS gave me the opportunity to build long-lasting friendships with people from various backgrounds. OWIS’s commitment to cultural appreciation and inclusivity cultivated a respectful, learning environment where the importance of international mindedness was embedded into me.

What do you think will be your fondest memory of the school?

As part of our IB Diploma Programme, grade-wide and school-wide events were organised by my class. This was an opportunity for my entire grade to work together and get to know each other. Some of my closest friends and fondest memories of the two years of IB come from organising and planning events together with my classmates.

Do you have a favourite teacher at OWIS for whom you would like to share a few words of appreciation?

I am deeply grateful to all my IB teachers for putting up with my numerous deadline extension requests and 2AM emails. All of my teachers have been immensely supportive and understanding throughout the past 2 years. Specifically, I’d like to thank Ms Fujino, my TOK teacher, for her unwavering support and encouragement. In the final stretch of IB as deadlines drew closer and stress ran high, Ms. Fujino still found time to sit with me individually and provide guidance on my coursework. She reassured and comforted me about my worries for university and my future. To me, Ms. Fujino is a mentor, a confidant and an inspiration.

Besides my subject teachers, I’d also like to thank Ms. Roy, our IB DP Coordinator. Under Ms. Roy’s supervision, our IB Diploma Programme not only ran smoothly, but was also made into an enjoyable journey.

As you enter the next phase of your life, what would you take forward from your time here at OWIS?

OWIS made me extremely adaptable to change. As an international school, teachers and students seldom stayed with the school for long periods of time. Classmates who I grew close to and teachers who I was fond of often left the school. This made me appreciate the time I had with them and also made me adaptable as there were often changes to my class teachers.

What excites you about life after OWIS?

After OWIS, I plan on going to university to study biomedical science and biotechnology.

Anisha, our heartiest congratulations on everything you have achieved so far and our best wishes for the future!
