Digital Literacy Day at OWIS Nanyang

Digital Literacy Day for our students in Secondary School at OWIS Nanyang on June 19th presented a unique opportunity to empower them with knowledge about digital rights, responsibilities, and the tools needed to navigate the digital world.

The event featured insightful stalls on:

🔐 Cyber security, including creating passwords, authentication, and avoiding phishing
📰 Identifying Real or Fake News
🤝 Digital etiquette and appropriate use of technology
♻️ Using technology in a sustainable way
📝 Signing a digital pledge to use the Internet responsibly

Some of the questions students reflected upon were:

  1. Why is it important to sign out from your accounts on public devices?
  2. What do you need to consider before posting something online?
  3. How can you check if an offer or deal is a scam?
  4. How can we use digital literacy help us spread awareness about certain topics?

Thank you to everyone who participated, including the IGCSE Drama students for their interesting videos on digital safety.

With our focus on well-rounded, future-focussed education at OWIS Nanyang, Digital Literacy Day was one step towards helping students to build a foundational understanding of how to navigate the digital world more thoughtfully and effectively, benefiting their educational, social, and future professional endeavours.
