International Day 2020

International Day at OWIS is about appreciating our many differences, celebrating our similarities and promoting our global mindedness. It provides students with opportunities to learn more about the traditions and cultures around the world thus developing an inter-cultural appreciation under our shared community. We celebrated our 4th International Day this year on 16th October, 2020.

Along with our annual flag parade (which was virtual this year) and stage performances, activities included students inquiring into how food connects people from different cultures, and how we share traditions, friendship and kindness through food. Secondary students created our very own One World Cookery Book, using and translating cherished family recipes from throughout our community. Additionally, students were invited to bring individually wrapped samples of food from their own culture for classmates to try.
