Outdoor Learning in Secondary: Taking Geography into the real world

Recently, we spotted our Cambridge IGCSE Grade 9 students enjoying some fresh air and outdoor learning time during their Geography lesson. Guided by Ms. Sanhita Roy, they were examining one of the many beautiful trees in our Nanyang campus to understand how plants in tropical rainforests adapt to climate.

Geography lessons are easily adaptable for outdoor learning and it helps students to gain practical knowledge and understand the real-world context of what they are learning. Going by the interest the students were showing as they were taking down notes and sharing some light-hearted moments, the lesson was engaging and enjoyable as well.

Ms. Roy elaborated that other topics in Geography in which outdoor learning is integrated include the differences between macro and micro climate and sampling techniques.
