Fostering curiosity and creativity is at the heart of early childhood learning. Our Early Childhood (EC) Unit Share at OWIS Nanyang provided an exciting opportunity for our preschool students to showcase their understanding of key concepts through hands-on, interactive stations designed by them under the guidance of our teachers.
Our EC2 students were given the theme of stories and family. Students explored the different roles within families, shared personal narratives, and brought their learning to life through storytelling activities. Meanwhile, EC3 students dived into the concept of homes, with a broader theme of imagination. Their presentations reflected how homes differ around the world and how creativity shapes our understanding of the spaces we live in.
What made this event truly special was the student agency involved. Teachers empowered students to take ownership of their learning by allowing them to decide which stations to present during the Unit Share. This encouraged confidence, collaboration, and deeper engagement with their chosen topics.
Additionally, the event featured parent engagement stations, where families had the chance to actively participate in learning activities related to the discussed units. This interaction not only strengthened the home-school connection but also gave parents a firsthand experience of the inquiry-based learning approach that defines our classrooms.
The Unit Share was a meaningful celebration that reinforces the joy of learning through exploration and collaboration.
