Celebrating our IBDP Batch of 2025: Atharva T.

The IB Diploma Programme is more than just an academic programme—it’s a journey of exploration, independence, and forming connections with classmates and peers. At One World International School Nanyang Campus, students benefit from a nurturing environment that values kindness, international mindedness, and holistic learning. But what does that experience truly feel like from a student’s perspective? In this series, we hear directly from our IBDP students as they share their reflections on their favourite moments and how OWIS Nanyang has prepared them for the future.

Discover Atharva’s unique insights into what makes the IBDP at OWIS Nanyang inspiring and memorable.

In which year and grade level did you start at OWIS?

Grade 11 in 2023.
What has been the highlight of your student life at OWIS?
The strong sense of community and collaboration of the entire cohort has been the highlight of my student life here at OWIS. From taking part in multiple activities to leading them, I have enjoyed every moment to learn and grow along with my friends. Even with the challenges, the continuous support of the teachers and my peers have made this journey of high school a memorable one.
What do you think will be your fondest memory of the school?
Spending the free time between lessons with friends always holds a special place in my list of best memories. From playing sports to watching movies, we spent the best time at the study room or the MPH. Those casual hangouts in the back of the library and in the meeting rooms. The corner of the library or the meeting rooms became peaceful spots for group discussions, individual studies and casual hangouts among the students who became lifelong memorable friends.
Do you have a favourite teacher at OWIS for whom you would like to share a few words of appreciation? How did they help and support you?
My Maths teacher, Ms. Rekha, would be my top teacher at OWIS. She made difficult mathematical subjects simpler to understand while guiding me to test my capabilities beyond class instruction. The consistent support and belief that she showed towards my mathematical abilities contributed greatly to my liking and development of my subject confidence. THANK YOU Ms. Rekha!!!
As you enter the next phase of your life, what would you take forward from your time here at OWIS?
The values of perseverance along with curiosity and collaboration that OWIS cultivated in me will accompany me during the next phase of my life. OWIS has trained me to develop my problem solving skills and critical thinking ability, which ensured confidence in facing challenges head-on. I will maintain the learning mindset shaped here because I believe it will help me advance academically and professionally in my life ahead.
What are your plans after OWIS?
I have already planned to pursue a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering after Grade 12. I am motivated to investigate research matters and develop practical innovations while advancing engineering achievements. The progression from school life to university marks an exhilarating start into a period where one will face obstacles alongside the chance to learn and develop new concepts that improve society. Not only that, the diverse culture that OWIS nurtures has already prepared me for new interactions in universities. I’m thrilled for this new phase of my life!
We wish you all the very best, Atharva! We’re excited to see the positive impact that you make in the future.
