It was a memorable moment at OWIS Newton as we launched our inaugural Kindness Week. Throughout the week, students embraced kindness not just as an idea, but as an action, showing empathy, care, and connection in ways both big and small.
The week began with peaceful mindfulness sessions, where students took time to reflect, and set intentions for the days ahead. It set the tone for a week where kindness was not only encouraged but intentionally practised.
A highlight of the week was our Buddy System Playdate, which brought together our students and students of another preschool in the same building to play, collaborate, and uplift one another. It was heartwarming to see students bonding, learning from each other, and strengthening our sense of community. During this time, students also exchanged beautifully decorated kindness rocks.
We concluded the week with an activity that extended kindness beyond the classroom: a beach clean-up at Siloso Beach. Students worked together to protect the environment, picking up litter and reflecting on their responsibility as global citizens. This hands-on experience reminded them that kindness is not just about how we treat people, it also includes how we care for our planet.
OWIS Newton’s first Kindness Week was more than a series of activities; it was a celebration of values that lie at the heart of our school community. We look forward to continuing this tradition and nurturing a culture where kindness is at the centre of every action we take and every decision we make.
