OWIS Nanyang hosted its first ever Careers Afternoon, an initiative designed to support Grade 8–12 students as they explore future pathways in an engaging, hands-on format. The event brought together a dynamic mix of professionals, parents, alumni, and universities, offering students a real-world glimpse into the opportunities ahead of them.
The Careers Afternoon was thoughtfully structured around three interconnected elements, each offering students meaningful exposure to career pathways and the transferable skills they will need for life beyond school.
Keynote Address:
The day began with an inspiring keynote that encouraged students to think broadly about their futures and the value of lifelong learning.
Reverse Career Fair:
One of the most anticipated components was the Reverse Career Fair,a vibrant, marketplace-style event featuring over 20 tables hosted by parents, alumni, and industry professionals from law, finance, dentistry, beauty and even content creation on Youtube! Students moved through the fair, engaging in short, insightful conversations that allowed them a better understanding of various career possibilities.
Skills Labs & Workshops:
Students also participated in hands-on skills labs and workshops focused on communication, problem-solving, creativity, and adaptability. With five to eight workshops running concurrently, students were able to select sessions that aligned with their interests and future goals. These practical experiences reinforced the essential competencies needed for university and the evolving workplace landscape.
Careers Day showcased how OWIS Nanyang’s staff, families, industry experts, and universities came together to create meaningful learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.
Together, we are nurturing students that will be one with the world.
