Your child’s brain is a muscle. Just like every other muscle in the human body, the more you work it, the better it performs. Talent may take your child far in life, but it’s no substitute for good study habits and the ability to work hard. At One World International School, we know our students have the capability to go anywhere they choose, become anyone they want to be. As a result, we strive to support their efforts by teaching them more than just names and dates. In an OWIS classroom, children learn how to think, how to reason and how to draw conclusions. In short, they learn how to learn — a skill that we encourage them to practice daily.
Just as an athlete must train his body and core muscles for a race, your children must prepare their mind to succeed academically. This means cultivating good habits that are the training methods of learning, such as:
- Prioritising school work
- Practising good time management skills
- Meeting homework deadlines
- Completing assignments on time
- Avoiding procrastination
- Asking questions when needed
- Collaborating effectively
- Planning for success
Students who fail to master these skills will struggle unnecessarily in school and life. This is why the OWIS curriculum helps children develop them early, as part of our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Crossing the Finish Line
An OWIS classroom is far removed from most traditional classrooms because our teachers act as facilitators. Just as the team coach encourages his players to excel at their sport, our classroom teachers inspire their students to think actively. In this way, sports and academics are much alike. A good student can quickly become an excellent student, with the right encouragement, means and materials in much the same way a good athlete can achieve Olympic status under the proper tutelage.
It takes hard work, perseverance and a willingness to cross the finish line. And that’s what One World International School wants every student to know: You can achieve greatness, no matter who you are if you’re willing to train hard.

Our campus is diverse and multicultural, our staff talented and caring. We value hard work, and we strive to instil this ethic in our students. As a result, students who graduate from OWIS are uniquely prepared to succeed in life. We’re training a generation of winners — team players who understand what it takes to win and how important it is to exhibit grace when winning is no longer an option.
