One World International School (OWIS) Digital Campus had the honour of hosting the prestigious Yale Model United Nations Singapore (Yale MUNS), marking a significant milestone in bringing Yale’s esteemed Model UN experience to Southeast Asia. With over 500 students from 80 schools, the conference provided an unparalleled platform for young leaders to engage in meaningful discussions on global issues.
The conference prioritises academic excellence, offering comprehensive topic guides, delegate training sessions, and expert-led committee discussions. The highly knowledgeable Committee Directors from the YALE MUN organising committee brought depth and engagement to the proceedings, ensuring a rewarding experience for all participants. Over 25 students from OWIS Nanyang and OWIS Punggol across Grades 8 to 12 took part in various committee sessions as delegates, leaders and note passers. Some of the sessions included thought-provoking topics such as Konfrontasi, Opium Wars and many more.
“I am excited to be here. I was a little nervous about speaking up but watching others do it in committee sessions has been inspiring. Critical thinking skills are the most important in Yale MUNS and I’ve put that into action a lot here,” said Shravya from Grade 8A, an OWIS Digital Campus delegate.
Beyond committee sessions, our vibrant campus was also home to other events, such as Yale Admissions Information Sessions, guest speakers, skill-building workshops, and social events. This fostered both lasting and meaningful connections among student delegates.
“OWIS Digital Campus is simply an amazing institution. Each room is fitted with everything you need for a YALE MUN conference. The campus uniquely personifies what we are looking for in both Model UN as a whole and also specifically to Southeast Asia,” shared Mr Kyran Blau, the Director General of Operations of Yale MUNS.
During the event, our OWIS students showcased their skills, with OWIS Digital Campus winning Best Position Paper and OWIS Nanyang earning the Outstanding Delegate award.
