After an intense rush of auditions and rehearsals, the finalists for the OWIS Digital Campus’ annual talent competition took to the stage to battle it out. This year’s edition of OWIS Has Talent [OHT] did not disappoint!
In interviews leading up to the event day, some of our youngest finalists shared some personal tips they use to manage their nerves onstage:
-
“I just rehearse like I’m performing at home. I know the more nervous I am, the more mistakes I’ll make.” – Kai from IB PYP Grade 2
-
“Before I go onstage, I will usually listen to music and practice backstage.” – Sherry from IB PYP Grade 2
-
“I am very used to performing onstage and have done it many times before, so I don’t feel nervous anymore.” – Simon from IB PYP Grade 5
The IB PYP Showcase included a piano-playing savant, a stage-thumping breakdancer, two melodious singers, a musical-comedy showcase, and OWIS’ very own K-Pop dance crew, Pandora!
Transitioning quickly from one performance to the next, it was wonderfully heartwarming to see these young students display a level of talent and stage confidence well beyond their years [not to mention how far they had come since their auditions]
The Primary school showcase was a clear showdown of talent – and our Secondary School finalists dialled it up a notch.
Some sang or danced to the music of foreign cultures, others honoured the craft they continue to hone – and one large group even took on the challenge of forming a live band.
Diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and cultural respect – all values that we aim to instill in the older cohorts, and all attributes that our Secondary students seemed to instinctively embody in both ideation and execution of their performances. The rest of the school community in the audience definitely agreed, with the cheering and roaring of their support motivating each and every performer on stage.
OHT is as old as the Digital Campus itself – it is part of our legacy. As with every legacy event, we celebrate the future while honouring the past – which is why the winners of OHT 2025 took to the stage to remind everyone – that they too still have skin in the game should they have wished to participate!
Events like OHT remind us of the OWIS way of life, as part of which celebrating our students’ unique abilities is key. With a range of opportunities that drive and honour holistic growth, we take pride in supporting journeys of exploration while setting up students for success.
To find out more about whether OWIS is the best environment for your children, we invite you to our upcoming Open House, commencing at 10am. We look forward to discussing the best way forward for your children, and hope to see you there!
