Mark Renie Appointed as Head of School, One World International School

In January 2022, One World International School appointed Mark Renie as Head of School. Mark was previously the Founding Head of School of OWIS Suntec.

Mark brings to OWIS over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience from schools across South East Asia and the Far East. He has worked at international schools in Korea, Vietnam, China, Thailand and now Singapore. In his last role before joining OWIS, he was the Head of Primary And Early Years at an international school in Bangkok. In his career, he has taught age groups as young as 4 year-olds and all the way to Grade 12 IB DP Theory of Knowledge.

Speaking on the appointment, Prashant Bafna, Country Director, OWIS Singapore, said, “Mr. Renie has led the OWIS Suntec campus since its launch in July 2021 and has played a key role in the successful opening and operations of the school. With a strong background in curriculum development and teacher training, he is committed to supporting and developing the teaching team to ensure that they are delivering OWIS’ outstanding curriculum to the highest quality. We look forward to Mr. Renie’s guidance to take OWIS to the next phase of its institutional growth. The Leadership Team at OWIS is committed to improving the student experience and academic outcomes alongside holistic all round development for every child.”

Elaborating on his vision for the whole school in the expanded role, Mark said, “What drew me to OWIS was the commitment to kindness, empathy, inclusion and diversity. As Head of School, it is my commitment that we will continue to promote these values, and the guiding statements of the school will continue to inform everything that we do. I firmly believe OWIS has great bones – there are outstanding teachers, a great curriculum, and wonderful students. In the coming years, all our efforts will go towards using these strong pillars to build a schooling experience that our OWIS learners will thrive in and take pride in.”

One World International School currently welcomes students to two campuses in Singapore – the first is an all-through Early Childhood to IB DP environment at Nanyang in West Singapore, and the second campus at Suntec is for children in Early Childhood up to Grade 5. A third purpose-built, all-through campus is under construction in Punggol and will open in 2023.
