This year’s OWIS Has Talent competition at One World International School (OWIS) Digital Campus was a resounding success, drawing an incredible 53 submissions from students across Grades 1 to 8. The event aimed to uncover the diverse talents within the student body, offering a platform for young stars to shine.
The talent pool was diverse and impressive, from singers and dancers to comedians and more. The excitement from the e-auditions led to an amazing finale on June 19 at the Quantum Theatre, where the top six acts chosen by the committee performed.
The finale was a grand celebration of creativity and performance, with esteemed judges Mrs Angela Henderson, Principal of Lower School; Mr Wong Chi-Wen, Secondary School Coordinator; Mr B, Drama Teacher; and Mr Damien Williams, Music Teacher and Head of the Department for Performing Arts in Nanyang, tasked with the difficult decision of selecting the top three acts. Aarushi’s soulful rendition of “Shallow,” Rhea’s captivating performance of “Easy on Me” and Kanaya’s enchanting traditional Indonesian dances from Bali and Bandung showcased the exceptional talent nurtured at OWIS. These performances demonstrated technical skill and the passion and dedication each student put into their craft.
The event also featured an exciting twist with the introduction of the Fan Favourite Award, allowing the audience to participate directly by voting for their favourite act. The audience’s enthusiasm was palpable as they cast their votes, ultimately selecting the Musical Gambits band as the fan favourite.
