One World, Many Journeys Stories: Antoine, IBDP 2026 Graduand

Ask Antoine, as aspiring Chemist, about his favourite place in school, and it’s no surprise that the answer is the Chemistry Lab. But it isn’t just about the academic work he’s been pursuing in the lab–there’s interesting gossip to be found here as well!

It’s these types of anecdotes that we have enjoyed learning from our graduating IBDP class of 2026, some of whom have been at One World International School’s Nanyang Campus when it commenced operations in 2018.

Antoine started at OWIS Nanyang in Grade 5, and recalls that his first week felt overwhelming. Moving schools meant stepping into an unfamiliar environment without close friends. But that uncertainty didn’t last long. What stood out to Antoine was how easy it became to connect with others. Friendships formed naturally, and over time, those early nerves gave way to a strong sense of belonging.

One memory that captures this balance between challenge and connection is from Grade 10, just before the IGCSE exams. Sitting in the library with his peers, everyone was focused on studying—yet still finding moments to talk, laugh, and support each other. It was a quiet but powerful reminder that they were all in it together.

Antoine’s growth hasn’t just been social—it’s been personal and academic too. Coming from a multilingual background, English wasn’t something he always felt fully confident in. But over the years, he saw a noticeable transformation, surprising even himself with how much he had improved.

Teachers played an important role in that journey. Whether it was guidance, understanding, or simply being approachable, their support made a difference.

What Antoine values most about OWIS Nanyang is its close-knit community. The smaller size of the school creates an environment where students and teachers genuinely know one another, making it easier to feel supported and connected.

As he looks ahead, Antoine leaves with more than just academic knowledge—he carries with him friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging that will stay with him long after graduation.
