On 14-15 May, the Quantum Theatre at the OWIS Digital Campus came alive with curiosity, innovation, and creativity – as the IB PYP Grade 5 students proudly showcased their work during the highly-anticipated PYP Exhibition — a culminating experience that reflected not only their recent months of learning, but also the remarkable growth that each student gained from the full PYP experience that led to them becoming effective inquirers, critical-thinkers, and communicators.
Across two days, the students presented a wide range of interactive exhibits not only addressing important environmental and social issues, but elevating them to a level that exceeded their years.
On the first day of the exhibition, they proudly showcased their ideas to visiting peers from other international schools like Stamford American International School and Global Indian International School, as well as students from our sister campus OWIS Newton.
What made the achievement even more extraordinary was the timeline behind it all – the entire process was launched and executed within just eight weeks, with the students independently conducting research, interviewing key professionals and experts, forming conclusions, and designing their own physical exhibits. Through their interactive booths, these Grade 5 students demonstrated their impressive ability to analyse complex global challenges on an individual level and transform them into meaningful, well-researched group presentations.
The second day of the exhibition welcomed proud parents onto campus, giving families the opportunity to witness firsthand the passion and dedication their children had poured into the project. Beyond the interactive displays, parents were also treated to special performances, including a rehearsed musical number and a mime performance symbolising the journey of a sprouting seed — a fitting metaphor for the students’ own growth throughout the PYP journey.
For many families, the exhibition served as a powerful demonstration of how much the students had matured academically, creatively, and personally during their time in the Primary Years Programme. It also marked an important milestone as the students now prepare to transition confidently into the Lower Secondary years in the upcoming academic year.
Behind every successful exhibition stands a dedicated team of educators and mentors. OWIS extended heartfelt appreciation to the teachers, staff members, and mentors who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to guide and support the students throughout the process. From inspiring ideas and encouraging deeper inquiry to helping students refine their presentations, the educators played a vital role in nurturing each learner’s potential.
The exhibition ultimately stood as more than just a showcase of projects — it was a celebration of collaboration, mentorship, resilience, and holistic learning. It reflected the spirit of the IB PYP framework and the commitment of OWIS educators towards empowering students to think critically, act compassionately, and grow into confident global citizens.
