With great pride, we are thrilled to announce that Rohan A., one of our Grade 12 students at OWIS Nanyang, has achieved an outstanding score of 42 in the recent IBDP 2024 examinations.
Following the release of the results, we had the pleasure of speaking with Rohan, where he shared his insights and experiences.
What have been the highlights of your learning experience at OWIS Nanyang?
The highlights of my learning experience have been my teachers. They created an environment which I felt was highly conducive to learning. I particularly enjoy having some degree of autonomy in my studies which most of my teachers were able to provide. For me, the methods that most teachers used to disseminate knowledge were highly effective and made it simple to achieve high scores.
Are there some study-related or general tips you would share with future IBDP cohorts for their preparation for the exams?
The biggest tip I have which is quite an obvious one is to not be lazy and procrastinate before your exams. It seems quite straightforward but you’d be surprised at how many people study the day before and then wonder why they didn’t perform well. Other than that would be to use all the resources at your disposal, namely past papers, YouTube videos and sample responses, all of which helped me immensely.
What course will you be pursuing in your higher studies and in which university? How did you identify your interest in this particular course and university?
I will be pursuing computer science at the University of British Columbia. I identified this interest through my Computer Science Internal Assessment during my two years in IBDP. I chose this university because of a few factors, an obvious one being its academic quality but also sillier things like it having snow. I also considered the overall environment of the university in making my choice, i.e. how demanding it would be since I’d rather not spend all of my time in university studying.
What are you looking forward to in life after school?
Honestly, I’m not really sure yet as to what I’m looking forward to. But I suppose that may be the fun of it, finding out.
