OWIS Appoints Angela Henderson as Principal of Lower School for our upcoming Digital Campus* in Punggol

One World International School’s Digital Campus* in Punggol will be a testament to our commitment to providing an unparalleled learning experience for students. While the facilities at this upcoming campus will set it apart as an ultra-modern school environment, it is the reputed OWIS education approach of student-centric, values-led learning that parents are looking forward to the most.

To implement this approach, Mrs Angela Henderson, a seasoned professional in the education industry, has been brought in as the Principal of Lower School at OWIS Digital Campus*.

Having worked for over 30 years in the education sector, Mrs Henderson has extensive experience as an educator and a school leader.

As a homeroom teacher, she taught students in Kindergarten and Primary grades in Canada, the USA, and Singapore. She also nurtured their development through the lens of Gifted Education, Special Education, Art, and Drama.

Since 2009, Mrs Henderson was a school leader at a well-known international primary school in the East of Singapore. In her previous role at this school, she served as the PYP Principal for the past seven years.

Her distinctions include the following:

  • Apple Distinguished Educator for ASIA ADE Institute Vietnam in 2011
  • Founding Chairperson for the South East Asia Primary Administrator Conference from 2013 to 2019
  • Leader Mentor for EARCOS Leadership Mentoring Program from 2021 up to present
  • Leader for Singapore Primary Administrators Network from 2013 up to present

On what drew her to OWIS’ new campus, Mrs Henderson said, “Two things stood out about OWIS Digital Campus. First, the unique OWIS One World, One Community model that promotes kindness and compassion. Kindness and compassion are something we could all use a little bit more of and must be the foundation for nurturing children entrusted to our care for our world. The second was a new professional challenge. I have led growing schools in the past, but this will be the first opportunity for me to be the founding leader of a new school with a new building.”

She believes international families have much to look forward to at this new campus. “In addition to the building being awarded Gold in the Government’s Green Mark Scheme, which is a rating system designed to evaluate a building’s environmental impact and performance, there are outstanding facilities to support and motivate student learning, such as a black box theatre, multipurpose hall, which includes two full-size basketball courts, outdoor stadium overlooking a running and sprint track, and two libraries. Also, outdoor space is abundant for young and older children to extend their learning and engage in free play.”

Scheduled to launch in August 2023, OWIS Digital Campus* in Punggol will welcome students in Early Childhood through Grade 8 with the intention of going up to Grade 12 in the future.
